Marcela Chermont is a children's book illustrator. She lives in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil with her adorable dog/bestie/food expert/muse Nala always by her side. When not drawing, you can find her wandering around nature studying shapes and colors, and getting distracted with all kinds of animals she can find.
She graduated in advertising and worked in the creative industry, specializing in visual language development for a while, but soon after fell in love with the world of narrative illustration and never looked back since.
Loving traveling and having had a French great grandfather, Marcela lived in France for a year studying pastry and following her curiosity. She keeps traveling, now with the company of her husband, who is not a fan of humans flying around like birds, but once landed likes getting to know different places too.
Marcela is inspired by nature, storytelling and magic. She loves creating characters, and her playful worlds always have cute animals around. Being an introvert, stories were always her favorite place to go. Her work starts with sketches and explorations on paper which she later refines in Procreate. She also wants to write her own story ideas, and has started working on the ones she has been adding to a special sketchbook.
Nowadays, one of her favorite times is around her two nieces, who keep inspiring her more and more. They share the love for animated movies, dogs and stories.
